HUGE THANK YOU TO CHARLES AND KRISTEN WAYSS for the AMAZING New Paint on the Lodge!
May 8, 2019 RISKI Meeting
Reservations Report
Reservations, as expected during mud season, have been low for April and May. We have some weeks booked in early summer, but the rest of the summer is open. Don't forget, folks, that a summer week for members is a low, $100 per week: So book now for your summer vacation in the White Mountains.
As mentioned in the previous Yodeler this past Christmas Vacation week was highly sought after. In anticipation of this the board has come up with the following plan:
All those who are interested in making a reservation over the Christmas Vacation this year should submit their request, and their annual dues, along with the cost of said reservation by the Sept. 18 meeting. If more than 5 reservations are requested, the requests will go to a lottery system. Your presence at the Sept. meeting is not required however the dues and room fees will need to be submitted.
Treasurer Report
The funds for the lodge are looking good. We have a working capital just shy of $10,000. This will need to support us through the summer months with our continued expenses, but typically lower usage. That is of course unless members decide to increase their summer usage of Lodge! There are so many things to do up in North Conway and the White Mountains in the summer, so don't forget.
This was the last official Treasure’s report from Ed Polom. Thank you Ed for your years of service and dedication. Ed will continue to guide the members taking over his many duties.
Lodge Report
We had an extra work weekend this year. The first one is completed, and two new exterior doors have been installed in units 1 and 4. They are fiberglass exterior doors with the new locks. Serendipitously the original storm doors were able to be reused. Of note: the seal is so excellent on both doors that members are cautioned to be sure that the storm door closes when you are leaving. It takes an extra push to force it closed against the pocket of air. Nice work guys!
The second, and regular, work weekend is scheduled for May 17 and 18. For anyone interested in coming, there is still some space.
Membership Report
We are always looking for new members. Don't forget to tell your skiing, biking, paddling, and hiking friends about our club.
We had some discussion about a possible summer get together. This would be a celebration of RISKI's 80th Anniversary! That is a lot of years! At that time we could socialize, have fun, talk about getting new sponsors for the race, and possibly meet any new members who might be interested in joining before the upcoming the season. Possible locations were discussed; Gray Sail in Westerly was one option. We would like to reach out to some of our Legacy members to attend this function. It would be fabulous to hear some of the stories from the old days. I think we might find that the old stories sound a lot like the new stories!
Patrick and Terry Selburg are going to spearhead this.
